Knudsen Construction, Inc. is proud of our work and takes pride in sharing it with others. Below are several photographs in various different categories to provide a visual illustration of KCI’s versatility in our capabilities.

Roka Akor
The exciting new River North restaurant, Roka Akor, the Phoenix-based corporationís first foray into the Chicago market, was completed in the Summer of 2011. The main dining room is highlighted by the unique sculpture of century-old, hand-cut nails at the Robata Grill. The immense restaurant is split into private eating areas featuring a pavilion of teak slats, stone and wood.

Qdoba Mexican Grill
Knudsen Construction, Inc. was a natural choice as the general contractor of the 175 West Jackson Blvd. location of Qdoba Mexican Grill. Being familiar with the ins and outs of the building and our extensive experience with the city of Chicago’s requirements provided KCI with the ability to alleviate a large amount of stress, while also offering suggestions as to the best way to approach different tasks. Because of KCI’s familiarity with the city of Chicago and the job location, our input on the design and installation of the fire and sprinkler systems, electrical, HVAC and plumbing was of great significance to all parties in this job. As a restaurant job, code compliance is a major factor when connecting equipment, however, KCI’s experience with other restaurants in the past proved this to be a very capable task for KCI. In addition to our supervision, we also self-performed the drywall, acoustical ceiling and framing at Qdoba, as well as the installation of soap, lid and towel dispensers, table and countertops, coat hooks and knife holders. KCI also coordinated the installation of the security systems and maintained responsibility for the security of the job until its completion. As a result of KCI’s supervision, input and performed work, Qdoba Mexican Grill is a proud representation of KCI’s abilities in a variety of different roles.

Wow Bao
Knudsen Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor for the Wow Bao restaurant buildout at 175 West Jackson Blvd. As the general contractor, KCI was responsible for the coordination of everything from demolition and drywall to ceilings and kitchen equipment. Under KCI’s supervision the Wow Bao space was completed accurately and efficiently. In addition to our supervision, our Millwork team fabricated and installed their Corian countertops as well as the register counter and gate. Our self-performed services were also utilized in the drywall, framing, doors, hardware and acoustical ceiling installation. As this was a restaurant space, it was an asset for KCI to have the ability to install items such as hoods and fans. KCI shows through different locations, especially restaurants where there are specific items required, our versatility and adaptability from one job to the next.

Interior Buildouts

175 West Jackson Office Building
As the general contractor for the buildout of the management office at 175 West Jackson Blvd, Chicago Illinois, Knudsen Construction, Inc. provided its own Carpentry and Millwork services, which included framing, drywall and taping new office walls, as well as installation of the acoustical ceiling, new doors, frames and hardware. 175 West Jackson is a frequent job location for KCI to which we are grateful for. KCI has proven, by our frequent presence there, to be a skilled contractor both in the realm of managing and carpentry.

316 Men’s Club
Knudsen Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor for the buildout of the 316 Men’s Club at the 175 West Jackson location. There our Carpentry and Millwork services were put to use and we were responsible for the rough and finish carpentry and installation of drywall and the acoustical ceiling. The 316 Men’s Club now provides a relaxing escape from the hectic city atmosphere while still being conveniently located in the middle of it thanks, in part, to KCI’s exceptional work.

Religious Institutions

Temple Beth El
Knudsen Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor for the renovation of the chapel, and the build out of the entire lower level, including classrooms and the meeting room at Temple Beth-El located in Northbrook Illinois. KCI’s ability to self perform the services of rough carpentry, drywall and acoustical ceiling coupled with our general contracting and project management services ensured that this job was done efficiently and accurately.

Richard Bennett Custom Tailors
Knudsen Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor for the 2,860 sq. ft. buildout at 175 West Jackson Blvd., Chicago Illinois, which now houses Richard Bennett Custom Tailors. With KCI’s administration, new HVAC systems were provided, and in addition to overseeing this job, KCI provided their own Carpentry and Millwork services which included installation of framing and drywall at this location. This job highlights KCI’s value engineering capabilities, where we achieved cost efficiency while maintaining high quality. KCI’s Millwork team worked extensively with the owner to utilize existing casework and display areas which we then retrofitted and modified to fit into the design space that you see today. As a result of KCI’s management and self-performed work, Richard Bennett Custom Tailors is a beautiful example of KCI’s ingenuity and flexibility which is necessary to adapt and meet a client’s wishes.
