Roka Akor The exciting new River North restaurant, Roka Akor, the Phoenix-based corporationís first foray into the Chicago market, was completed in the Summer of 2011. Qdoba Mexican Grill Knudsen Construction, Inc. was a natural
choice as the general contractor of the 175 West Jackson Blvd. location
of Qdoba Mexican Grill. Being familiar with the ins and outs of the
building and our extensive experience with the city of Chicago’s
requirements provided KCI with the ability to alleviate a large amount
of stress, while also offering suggestions as to the best way to approach
different tasks. Because of KCI’s familiarity with the city
of Chicago and the job location, our input on the design and installation
of the fire and sprinkler systems, electrical, HVAC and plumbing was
of great significance to all parties in this job. As a restaurant
job, code compliance is a major factor when connecting equipment,
however, KCI’s experience with other restaurants in the past
proved this to be a very capable task for KCI. In addition to our
supervision, we also self-performed the drywall, acoustical ceiling
and framing at Qdoba, as well as the installation of soap, lid and
towel dispensers, table and countertops, coat hooks and knife holders.
KCI also coordinated the installation of the security systems and
maintained responsibility for the security of the job until its completion.
As a result of KCI’s supervision, input and performed work,
Qdoba Mexican Grill is a proud representation of KCI’s abilities
in a variety of different roles.
Wow Bao Knudsen Construction, Inc. served as the
general contractor for the Wow Bao restaurant buildout at 175 West
Jackson Blvd. As the general contractor, KCI was responsible for the
coordination of everything from demolition and drywall to ceilings
and kitchen equipment. Under KCI’s supervision the Wow Bao space
was completed accurately and efficiently. In addition to our supervision,
our Millwork team fabricated and installed their Corian countertops
as well as the register counter and gate. Our self-performed services
were also utilized in the drywall, framing, doors, hardware and acoustical
ceiling installation. As this was a restaurant space, it was an asset
for KCI to have the ability to install items such as hoods and fans.
KCI shows through different locations, especially restaurants where
there are specific items required, our versatility and adaptability
from one job to the next.
